It seems that not all Liverpool fans are thrilled by the prospect of us signing Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, having watched his disappointing performance in Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal.

Liverpool transfer news
Villa were ripped to shreds at Wembley, with the Gunners scoring four times without reply, and despite all the build-up the towering Belgian forward did little to impress his army of reported suitors.
It will certainly be interesting to see if the Reds make good on their initial interest in the player – reported here by the Daily Mail – as Brendan Rodgers steps up his pursuit of a marquee arrival that can help up our goal tally next season.
As the Mail reports, it’s understood that the player has a buyout clause of around £32m in his contract. Such a fee would make the 24-year-old our second most expensive signing of all time, second only to Andy Carroll, and understandably that’s provoked a number of our supporters to air their concerns.
Here’s what Twitter had to say after yesterday’s final:
All those "Benteke for #lfc" tweets have gone into hiding! !!
He's not the £30m solution to our problems

Must admit today was the first time I have properly watched Benteke apart from MOTD highlights, i really hope today was not the norm! #LFC

Benteke didn't exactly cover himself in glory today but yet again he was playing for Villa. #LFC

Would be typical of #LFC to pay £32.5m for Benteke after that display.

& that was the reason i dont want benteke at #LFC #FACupFinal

Benteke lack of marking for the Mertesacker goal is probably the reason why BR seems keen on him would fit right in with our defence #LFC

I really hope #LFC scouts have just watched that game. 1. for missing out on #Sanchez 2. For even thinking about paying £32.5M for #Benteke
