Liverpool transfer news
The deal, which remains subject to a medical, will see Milner officially join us at the start of July after the final month of his City contract has expired (via Liverpool’s official website).
Pleasingly, most Liverpool fans have reacted positively to the news, no doubt spotting the obvious value in the experienced England international. Milner will hopefully provide some much needed strength to our midfield next season, particularly after the departure of Steven Gerrard, who has joined LA Galaxy.
The 29-year-old has been with City for five years, winning two Premier League titles and two domestic cups, and will now look to guide the Reds back into the Champions League places after a dissapointing 2014-15 campaign.
Milner had attracted interest from Arsenal, among others (via Evening Standard), so our supporters have every right to be delighted that our regularly bemoaned transfer committee have got this one over the line.
