We breezed through our first pre-season fixture in comfortable fashion, with the Thai All Stars putting up little resistance.

It was a chance to see some of our new signings in action, with a number of players looking sharp on the day.

Check out the goals and highlights of the game below:

Lazar Markovic didn’t enjoy the best debut season at the club, but he clearly has huge potential and will be looking to use pre-season to prove himself. He burst away from the Thai defence to latch onto a ball from Joao Teixeira, and slotted in a neat finish after rounding the keeper. 1-0.

We should have doubled our lead shortly after, but were denied by a decent double save from the Thai keeper. The shots were pretty much straight at him, but he still did well to stand up to Danny Ings – who probably should have done better with his chance.

Ings did well with his next chance however, pouncing on a loose ball and cannoning it into the roof of the net. He was unlucky to see it disallowed though, with the referee penalising Mamadou Sakho for a foul on the keeper.

The Frenchman was clearly disappointed that the goal was disallowed, and looked to make amends. He did so from a corner before half time, powering home a header with little resistance from the opposition. 2-0.

Adam Lallana made it 3-0 just after the break, with a neat finish into the far corner after some sloppy defending.

It was our new captain Jordan Henderson that stole the headlines for the third though, with the England international grabbing the assist with a fantastic rabona over the top of the Thai defence.

We saw torrential rain in the second half and play started to deteriorate. The ball started sticking badly, and we were unable to play our fluid passing game. This Thai winger’s dive illustrated just how waterlogged the pitch had become.

Divock Origi wasn’t enjoying the best of games, and his finishing was a little wayward. He found the back of the net just before the final whistle though, smashing a header off the bar and into the net after a simple corner routine. 4-0.

The game finished 4-0, and while we weren’t tested much by the Thai team, there were still some real positives to take from the game.

The weather in the second half made things a little more difficult, but there were some truly impressive displays from a couple of our stars – especially Markovic and Henderson.
