Liverpool took on TNS at Melwood today in a training ground friendly, and battered the Welsh minnows 5-1, the official website reports.
Brendan Rodgers wanted the players who didn’t feature yesterday, including those who only received substitute minutes, to get a full run-out, and we fielded a very strong XI which featured Adam Bogdan, Emre Can, Lucas Leiva, Alberto Moreno, Divock Origi, Jordan Rossiter, Mamadou Sakho, Danny Ings, Lazar Markovic, Kolo Toure and Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian summer signing weighed in with a hat-trick, and you can see two of the goals below – one of which was excellently assisted by Alberto Moreno.
Ings bagged one from the penalty spot and Markovic also scored to put the Welsh side to bed.
It’s great that Firmino is looking sharp, even on the training ground – and we reckon that after a fairly promising 12 minute cameo versus Stoke on Sunday, he’ll be very much in contention for a start at home to Bournemouth next week.
