Jordan Henderson injury update after doctor’s son sparks surgery rumours – not ruled out of Norwich tie

Jordan Henderson has not travelled to the USA for surgery, but for a far simpler procedure, the Echo can confirm, despite a tweet sent out by the son of the the medic treating our captain, Dr. John Cozzarelli.

Marc Cozzarelli sent Liverpool fans into a frenzy after he sent this message on social media:

‘”Beyond proud of my dad coming this far as a doctor and being able to do surgery on @Jhenderson.”

(We’d embed it, but it’s since been deleted and the account made private.)

It turns out though that Cozzarelli junior was simply using an incorrect term, and instead – Henderson has undergone a procedure involving a series of injections into the heel and has not had an operation.

And remarkably, the Echo claim that the midfield dynamo has not ruled out the possibility of playing against Norwich on Sunday, although for us, it seems entirely unlikely considering he’s currently in New Jersey. The club are waiting to see how he reacts to his treatment, but this weekend is very soon even if it’s all gone swimmingly.

A quick return though would be a huge boost to the club and the management. We’ve been dreadful in the two fixtures Henderson’s missed – versus West Ham and then Manchester United – losing both and falling behind the top sides already.

A weakened side is likely to travel to France for the Europa League tie in Bordeaux, but Rodgers will be picking his first-choice XI at Anfield on Sunday. Anything but a win will only increase the pressure already on his shoulders.
