Given that we won the semi-final first leg but also lost our best player (Coutinho) and most in-form player (Lovren) to injury, it’s not entirely surprisingly that Liverpool fans’ reaction on social media has oscillated between delight and despair.
Both players went off holding their hamstrings, and in the worst case could face at least one month on the sidelines. It means we now have just one fit centre back in the shape of veteran Ivorian Kolo Toure.
Here’s some of the best (and worst) Twitter reaction:
Great result this evening but if injuries continue such efforts will be in vain. #Liverpool #Klopp ⚽⚽⚽

Liverpool well tonight especially with the injuries we picked up during the game. Movement and passing much better 👌

Disastrous on the injury front, but #LFC much the better team, and Joe Allan def meant the pass to Ibe.

Lovren looked solid again. Such a shame he's gone off. Moreno having a really good game.

#LFC almost run out of fit strikers and fit centre-backs. I’m just glad we haven’t got Man United and Arsenal coming up…

With so many injuries it’s hard to rotate. But then that leads to more injuries. https://t.co/2WcAlZAs9d

Time to make use of him and harvest Enrique's hamstrings.

Liverpool have one (ONE) centre back left and his name is Kolo Toure.

Hamstring injury for Lovren. Have "Hamstring injury for…" copied and pasted now just ready to be tweeted.
— Dave O’Connell (@DaveOCKOP) January 5, 2016
What the fuck is going on with hamstrings? This is utterly ludicrous. Hamstring crisis and then lose 2 more to hamstrings in 33 mins
— Paul Tomkins (@paul_tomkins) January 5, 2016
Hahaha, now Lovren's injured as well. Yay! Let's just have every fucker injured, all season, cos this is all perfectly fucking sound.

And finally, one from our very own Jordan Chamberlain!
These injuries are heartbreaking. Couts does what looks like groin or hamstring after great start. @empireofthekop pic.twitter.com/bOSAavydQa
