Ex-Evertonian says he wants to score against the Reds this weekend

In case you missed the news from the other half of the city this week, Everton shipped striker Steven Naismith off to Norwich in a £8.5 million deal (via BBC).

As luck would have it, the ex-Everton front-man is now set to make his debut against us this weekend as we travel to East Anglia for Saturday’s early kick off, and he says he wants to score his first goal for his new club against us.

Normally, we might consider those to be somewhat hollow words trotted out by every club’s new signing. Except this time, there’s precedent.

Naismith signed for Everton in the summer of 2012, scoring his first goal for the club on the 28th October in a 2-2 draw with ourselves at Goodison Park.

“For different reasons, different goals mean a lot to me but you can’t get much better than scoring your first goal against Liverpool,” he told the Echo.

“It has been a topic that has been brought up a lot since I made the move and if I can start my Norwich career like I did my Everton one, by scoring my first goal against Liverpool, then that would be great.”
