Kolo Toure promises Yaya that he’ll take him out “big time” on Sunday

More quotes from Kolo Toure today that prove why everyone loves him!

Our ageing centre-back was left out of the Europa League tie with Augsburg last night, with many assuming Jurgen Klopp is resting him for Sunday’s League Cup final with Manchester City.

There’s a chance that Klopp will stick with Lucas or risk Dejan Lovren, but if he goes with Toure, you can be sure the ageing centre-back will give his all – as he always does – although it’s Sergio Aguero and not his brother he should be more worried about.

“If we’re both out on that pitch then it’s going to be amazing to play against him in a final,” the Ivorian told the ECHO.

“I hope to face him. If not, the most important thing is that my team win.

“There will be no fraternising with Yaya before Sunday – no phone calls, no messages, no feeling.

“We are both going to war. We will both want to win and then we will talk after.

“Yaya is closer to some, I am closer to others,” he said, regarding his many siblings.

“At the end one of us will come out on top.”

The BBC clip shows Kolo also showing that he’d take his brother out ‘big time’ if Yaya was through on goal!

Toure’s definitely a backup for us, but it’s important to remember that at his peak this guy was one of the better centre-backs in Europe.

Manchester City signed him from Arsenal for big money back in 2009, and if he’d won the Premier League with us in 2013/14, he’d have become the first player to do so with three separate clubs.

For Liverpool he’s proved a reliable servant and a wonderful dressing room influence as well.

His lack of pace could be a problem at Wembley, however. Aguero’s rapid, and if Toure gets caught in a footrace with Raheem Sterling he’ll be in trouble as well. Still, some of Toure’s best performances have come in our most important matches, such as Real Madrid away at the Bernabeu.
