Joe Allen was arguably the best player on the pitch tonight as Wales beat Russia 3-0 in Toulouse to win Group B and book a trip to Paris for a last 16 game next Saturday. Unfortunately, Danny Ward had to settle for a place on the bench.
He made an instant impression on the game, supplying a wonderful through-ball for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey to open the scoring after just eleven minutes.

He and Ramsey then went on to control and dominate the midfield, as a second goal from Neil Taylor nine minutes later and a third from Gareth Bale in the second half gave the Welsh a comfortable win.
Allen was withdrawn in the 74th minute.
The result means they end the group stage as group winners with six points from their three games. Only a last minute Daniel Sturridge goal last Thursday prevented them from going unbeaten.
The UEFA permutations are very complicated, but they will face now face either Albania, Czech Republic, Croatia, Turkey, Germany, Poland, or Northern Ireland in the next round.
