Three Liverpool players would take penalties for England at Euro 2016

The Daily Star have revealed which players would take penalties for England if it came down to a shootout in Euro 2016, and there are three Liverpool players in the lineup.

The report claims there are eight players lined up by Roy Hodgson to take penalties, with the order obviously dependent on who is still on the pitch when the final whistle goes.

Wayne Rooney is naturally one of those set to take a spot kick, with Tottenham trio Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and Dele Alli also on the list. Jamie Vardy is there too, while our own Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, and James Milner round off the party.

There’s no suggestion on who the first five would be if it came down to it, but we’d expect it to be Rooney, Sturridge, Kane, Milner, and Jamie Vardy.

With England’s struggle to score goals in the Euros so far, a penalty shoot out is a real possibility. Any team that’s willing to park the bus could cause Hodgson’s side problems, and penalties are something he may have to rely on.

England don’t exactly have the best record in that department, but there are a number of good spot-kick takers in the current squad.
