Liverpool had made it clear to the 26-year-old in no uncertain terms that he wouldn’t play this season if he stayed, and now Klopp expects to be as good as his word – despite Sakho’s £100k-per-week wages.
The report claims Sakho is sixth choice, behind Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan, Joe Gomez and Lucas – meaning that without European football – he won’t be needed barring a horrible injury crisis.
Liverpool fans are divided on the saga, with many believing the club are wrong to freeze out Sakho, potentially our best centre-back on form. But of course we are not privy to what’s happened privately, and clearly it’s enough for Klopp to act in the manner he has.
