Things have finally started to come together for Dejan Lovren at Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp was appointed as manager.

The defender has highlighted his mental strength as the key factor in him being able to overcome his tough start to life on Merseyside.

Lovren also saw his former Southampton teammate Adam Lallana struggle to make an immediate impact following his big money move to Liverpool and has reflected on how they were both able to come through.

When discussing the way they worked through their slow start, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “We went through this and I think it says a lot about mental strength – and not just me and Adam, a couple more players have really improved.”

“You need to be mentally strong if you want to compete. Every three or four days, there are big games and a lot of stress. You need to be ready to work hard. Nothing comes easy in life.”

“But we never stop believing in ourselves and that’s the reason why we are still here and have positive comments about us. That’s what drives us for the future.”

“The most important thing is that these kinds of players, who are really strong mentally, will never stop fighting.”

The Croatian’s desire to succeed at this club seriously shines through in his words and is, in fact, something that deserves to be commended.

We as Liverpool fans always have time for players such as this who are focused on improving and prepared to take on the big challenges in order to eventually come out on top.

Both Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have taken significant strides towards repaying their substantial price tags and now find themselves to be key members of an extremely promising squad of players.

They have thrived under the management of Jurgen Klopp and deserve all the credit they get for kicking on with their careers and refusing to let their places be taken from them at Liverpool.
