The forward picked up a calf problem before the victory over Sunderland, and missed the subsequent EFL Cup game with Leeds and the heartbreaking Bournemouth defeat too…

Now, James Pearce in the Echo writes that he’s missed training all week and is not in contention to play at home to West Ham on Sunday either.
That means Divock Origi, who’s well and truly taken his chance in Sturridge’s absence, will lead the line again.
The Belgian has scored three in three, which will be agonising for Sturridge as it looks like Origi may have now climbed above the Englishman in the pecking order even when everyone’s fit.
We just hope Sturridge can get healthy, as without Coutinho (and Sadio Mane in January due to the AFCON), we’ll need the 27-year-old this season – despite the fact he’s yet to register a Premier League goal.
