The case of Christian Pulisic.
He could have just been a name thrown into the mix as so many have been during this January transfer window yet we sense the American youngster was someone Jurgen Klopp was particularly keen on bringing to Liverpool.
Hopes of bringing him to Merseyside were diminished yesterday as the 18-year-old signed a new long term deal with his current club Borussia Dortmund.

The contract extension means he will remain at the club until 2020 but if transfers in recent history are anything to go by, we suspect he could be on the move between now and then.
It of course depends on how his apparent commitment to Dortmund is perceived in this modern era. It by no means rules out his departure during the next three years but it does mean he will now undoubtedly carry a hefty price tag.
Klopp’s admiration for the youngster has been no secret and it now looks as though he will be forced to not only wait for one of his main transfer targets but also to pay big money for him as well.
