Fear not, we all seem to be suffering the same case of déjà vu.
Liverpool have once again been linked to a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze after reportedly coming close to bringing him to Anfield last summer.
The World Cup winning German has endured a tough couple of seasons having struggled at Dortmund since moving back there after failing to hold down a first team place at Bayern Munich.
The Mirror reported: “Jurgen Klopp wants a reunion with attacking midfielder Gotze and initial talks about an end-of-season switch are understood to have taken place.”
He appears a man with undeniable talent but also one who is severely short on confidence at the moment with many feeling a reunion with Klopp could help reignite his career.
Liverpool’s lack of strength in depth was somewhat exposed during a testing January and it looks as though Klopp is keen to sort out his business early with specific targets seemingly already in mind.
Winners are what we need and Gotze is certainly that. If any manager has the ability to help him rediscover his top form, it is the man in which he played his best football under.
His first spell at Dortmund saw him score 31 goals in 116 games however he has only managed one goal in 10 league appearances since his return to the club.
