As if the weekend result wasn’t enough, Liverpool fans are waking up to news today that we’re going to enjoy the most ambitious transfer window in our history this summer.

The Echo, the most trusted of sources in regards to the club, report that Jurgen Klopp will be given close to £200m to fix his squad.

“Anyone who thinks Liverpool are going to spend £100m this summer is almost certain to be fooled,” writes Ian Doyle…

“It will be a lot, lot more than that.”

Liverpool were challenging for the Premier League title around Christmas time, but our lack depth became abundantly clear in January, when the squad failed to deal with Sadio Mane’s AFCON absence and Coutinho’s poor form.

This term, we’ve been superb going forward, but the defence needs serious improvements. Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are decent first-choice options, but they can’t stay fit and a new centre-back is a necessity.

We obviously need a left-back as well, despite James Milner adapting well to the role.

Elsewhere, a box-to-box midfielder, a genuine winger and a centre-forward would do us wonders.

For now though, we’ve got six games left in which to confirm our Champions League status for 2017/18. Our position this season will define the kind of players we’re after in a few months.
