Lovren: ‘These two guys are amazing’

Dejan Lovren has taken time to praise Jurgen Klopp and our two Brazilian attackers Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

The Croatian centre-back has been an automatic pick when fit this term, but like his partner Joel Matip, has struggled with fitness.

As a result, they’ve only started 14 Premier League games together, but in the Premier League, we’ve yet to lose when they play alongside each other…

Hopefully they’ll start the next five games and help us finish in the top four.

But they’ll also need the help of our two best players currently available, Coutinho and Roberto Firmino…

Without Sadio Mane, we’re relying heavily on the South Americans to win us games – and against Stoke and West Brom in our past two – they’ve delivered.

“These two amazing guys, these two special players mean a lot for us,” the No.6 told Premier League Productions, cited by the official website. . “Hopefully they will stay fit until the end of the season.

“We are missing many players, but they showed again in the second half against Stoke that they can change the game whenever they want.

“Sometimes you need that. Top teams like us sometimes depend on our big players. [But] it’s not just on them – the responsibility is for everyone to do our job.

“We have a big thing to [achieve]: the Champions League. Everyone wants that. If you want to be a top team, you need to continue to play well in every game.”

This term, Firmino has 11 goals in the top flight, while Coutinho has nine. It’s a decent return, but in terms of ability, both are elite, and it wouldn’t surprise us to see one of them closer to 20 next term.

For Lovren, he’ll have to battle for a starting spot with the expected expensive defender, potentially Virgil Van Dijk, coming in.
