Barcelona had a £72m bid for Coutinho rejected out of hand a month ago.
And for some reason, after feeding lies to various Spanish propaganda outlets about confirming a deal, thought that a bid that equates to £5m more would suffice…
Are they crazy?
BBC Sport have confirmed that last night Barca bid £77m for Coutinho, which includes £13m in add-ons that could bring the deal to £90m.
Naturally, Liverpool rejected the bid as soon as it arrived and reminded our European friends what we’ve told them all summer – that Coutinho, who’s contracted to Liverpool until 2021 – is not for sale.

Why on earth, when Liverpool have repeatedly told them Coutinho is not for sale at any price, would Barca think an extra £5m would cause us to perform a giant u-turn?
Liverpool are not going to sell our Brazilian no.10 for any price this summer, and certainly not the derisory sums Barca (who are simply not what they used to be in playing terms anyway) have offered.
They’ll give up soon.
