LFC make ‘important offer’ for Atletico Madrid striker

Liverpool are trying to poach ‘The next Fernando Torres,’ who is currently on the books at Atletico Madrid.

16-year-old prodigy Victor Mollejo made his debut on Sunday for Diego Simeone’s side in a friendly with Luganes, becoming the first player born this Millennium to make an appearance for the brutishly excellent Spaniards.

Sport Witness have translated a report by AS in Mollejo’s homeland which claims that Liverpool recently made an ‘important offer’ for the teenage forward, who’s been given Torres’s old no.35 – the one he wore 15 years ago when he broke into the side…

The report doesn’t hint at what kind of offer we’ve made, although it wouldn’t surprise us considering the number of young Spaniards we’ve acquired over the past decade for the youth team.

The likes of Dani Pacheco, Suso, Pedro Chirivella and Sergi Canos all eventually made first-team appearances for Liverpool, although it’s telling that none truly became stars – like, say, Cesc Fabregas did at Arsenal.

If Mollejo did join, he’d play for Steven Gerrard with the Under-18s at first, before hopefully graduating to the Under-23 XI.
