Liverpool and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield today, despite the home team dominating the ball and chance count.
We played well, but didn’t create too many gilt-edged opportunities against an ultra defensive outfit.
Jose Mourinho, who killed the game, will go home happier than Jurgen Klopp, who will rue misses by Matip, Salah and Can. At least one should have ben finished.
Here’s how we rated the players:
Mignolet: 6/10 – Made one good save from Lukaku. Had nothing else to do.
Gomez: 8/10 – Consistently made tackles and showed real physical capability as well.
Moreno: 7.5/10 – Improves every week. Feisty and hard working. Defended well.
Matip: 6/10 – Defended well, but had his chance saved by David de Gea from 5 yards.
Lovren: 6.5/10 – Good, as he has been for a number of games in a row, actually.
Henderson: 6/10 – Saw loads of the ball, but misjudged his more aggressive passes.
Wijnaldum: 6.5/10 – Dynamic first-half, less impressive second.
Can: 6/10 – Battled well but lacked any creative spark.
Salah: 8/10 – Brilliant first-half where he was easily the best player on the pitch – but took a shot off Coutinho’s feet and fired wide.
Coutinho: 7/10 – Improved as the game went on and his close-control was predictably perfect. Surprisingly didn’t shoot very much, as he often does.
Firmino: 5/10 – Very tidy until he has to make something happen in the box, the messes it up.
SUBS:
Oxlade-Chamberlain: 6/10 – One nice run and cross.
Sturridge: – 5/10 – Did nothing.
