Liverpool fans have reacted angrily to seeing their side throw away a win against Sam Allardyce’s uninspiring Everton side.
The Reds failed to make their dominance count as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw after Wayne Rooney’s second-half penalty cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s stunning opener.
Jurgen Klopp’s men subsequently squandered the opportunity to leapfrog Chelsea into third place in the Premier League after the champions suffered a shock defeat against West Ham.
Anger at full-time was primarily directed towards Dejan Lovren, who clumsily fouled Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the penalty area to give the Toffees an undeserved chance to draw level from the spot.
The Croatian’s unnecessarily rash challenge, no matter how soft, drew criticism from Reds as yet another costly big-game error.
Wasted chances throughout proved costly, with what looked set to be a valuable win eventually evolving into a rueful draw against an Everton side that displayed next to no attacking ambition.
Here’s how supporters reacted…
An intensive Merseyside derby. Should have been a clear 3 points for #LFC after a wonderful 1st half strike by the King of Egypt, Mo Salah until Lovren decided to pull out the shittiest decision in the box. Terribly disappointed. #LIVEVE 1-1

Klopp and the boys did enough to win the game. Mane shoulda passed. Pen was not a pen. End of. #LFCEVE #LFC

Shocked !
Sometimes football is unfair
Total domination by the reds , and at the end get only a draw 😟 #LFC #LIVEVE 1-1 #PremierLeague— Hened Collaku (@henedersonn) December 10, 2017
A dubious penalty & a disappointing result. Everton weren’t up to much for most of the game. Taking Salah off so early was a strange decision. 2 points dropped. #MerseysideDerby #LFC #LIVEVE

Soft Penalty but still a Penalty…Lovren lost his head again…can’t think under pressure…player going away from goal…just stand him up… #LFC #Liverpool #LIVEVE https://t.co/YP3m9xrfLL

We should’ve taken our chances when we had them (particularly #Mane chance before halftime), that’s what cost us in the end #LIVEVE #LFC

Points dropped, yet again. #LFC #majorFrustration #deflated

Why some people blame the rotation for the draw?! #LFC absolutely manhandled Everton and should’ve been up 2 if Mane wasn’t too selfish to pass. And their goal was not a penalty although it was so stupid of Lovren when it wasn’t needed at all

#LFC were never in any danger of dropping points there today. The only way everton were going to score was if we gifted it to them.. and we did. And Lovren wonders why he gets all the criticism. But Mane squares it in the 1st half then would of been game over
