None of Liverpool’s currently injured players are going to be ready for tonight’s tie with West Brom.
That’s Adam Lallana, Joel Matip and Alberto Moreno.
The former is the forgotten man of the season, having yet to start a match in 2017/18 following a summer injury and a recurrence after his Chelsea cameo.
Moreno limped off against Spartak Moscow and will be covered by Andrew Robertson, while Klopp’s comments indicate Matip isn’t especially close to starting either.
Klopp’s Quotes
“Adam is good. He trains completely normal. We need him for the next weeks. We should not need him for West Brom, but we need to see how we can bring him into match fitness,” he told Tuesday’s presser.
“Adam Lallana has trained completely normal. We will see what we do with him. Joel Matip is not in training.
“Nothing serious after last game but possible that 1 or 2 won’t play v West Brom. Moreno isn’t ready for sure.”
On top of these guys, we have Nathaniel Clyne, who isn’t going to be ready until quite some time after Christmas following back surgery.
The right-back’s absence has seriously affected us because it means Joe Gomez has covered this position instead of being used centrally.
We think Klopp could start like this tonight: Mignolet; Trent, Klavan, Lovren, Robertson; Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino
