There was a mixed, but largely negative reaction this afternoon to the suggestion that Jonny Evans could be a January window transfer target.
The Northern Irishman has been very good at West Brom for a few years now, with Manchester City and Arsenal keen in the summer.
Today, Sky Sports presenter Alan Smith claimed he believed Liverpool would ‘definitely’ be interested in the centre-back this winter.
Jurgen Klopp’s no.1 target is still Virgil van Dijk, but at some point, we’ll start looking for alternatives, surely?
“But how they’d love to get Virgil van Dijk in, maybe that ship has sailed. It sounds like Pep Guardiola might be interested in the Southampton centre-half.
“I think there are still questions to be answered. Yes I could (see Jonny Evans signing), definitely, definitely.”
Here’s how Reds reacted online.
Remember, Evans was a loyal Manchester United servant for some time. For this reason he might refuse a switch anyway.

Reckon Evans is good enough for Liverpool?

Bravo Echo, Evans only looked capable the other night because he had at least 8 players crowded around him every time we went forward. He wouldn't have that luxury at Liverpool as we go out to try and win games.
