Didi Hamann doesn’t mince his words. He didn’t as a player and he certainly doesn’t now he’s retired.
The Champions League winner was asked about some of the current Liverpool bunch on Twitter last night and gave rather emphatic responses.
Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can were the unlucky recipients.
When asked about Sturridge:
I would have sold him a long time ago. Club is asking for too much money, a player who plays 20% of the games is worth 20% of his true value so I'd let him go for £8m probably. He's cost us more than that by not playing https://t.co/vH6qb3W7Wh

When asked if Henderson could play the No.6 role:
No thanks https://t.co/DF4kLMDVjj

When asked about Emre Can:
He's ok but certainly not a player I'd beg to sign. Take it or leave it, see ya later https://t.co/pa5iKb3V1P

Typically charming from the German, as you can see!
Many Liverpool fans though will be delighted with his comments, with many former Reds analysing the current bunch, especially the English players, with rose-tinted glasses.
Hamann probably makes fair points, too. We’d prefer Can to stay, but if he doesn’t want to, we’ll survive without him. Sturridge needs a new challenge, badly, and apart from at the beginning of last season, Henderson hasn’t shown enough consistency at no.6.
