Two massive clubs want Mignolet; bidding war could ensue

Dortmund, Napoli

Simon Mignolet, having played for Liverpool since 2013, could be about to start an adventure at another very large European club.

Belgian outlet DH, translated by Sport360, reckon that Napoli are considering bringing him in to replace the ageing Pepe Reina (just as Liverpool did five years ago!), while Borussia Dortmund think he could be an upgrade on Roman Burki – the inconsistent Swiss.

It very much looks like Mignolet has played his final game for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp leaving him on the bench for the Champions League dead-rubber with FC Porto on Tuesday.

If he isn’t going to get minutes in that game, he’s certainly not going to get any in the Premier League – barring an injury or a suspension to Loris Karius.

Napoli and Dortmund are both excellent clubs though, so it looks like 30-year-old Mignolet may land on his feet.

He’s an honest professional who’s given his all to Liverpool’s cause over the years, but the time has come for him to move on.

We hope he gets the move he wants, Liverpool rake in a tidy transfer fee and everybody ends up happy!
