Steven Gerrard is already tempting a bridge to regular first-team football at Rangers for Liverpool’s youth prospects.

The Anfield great is eyeing up Reds starlet Harry Wilson as he looks to strengthen his squad in his first summer transfer window as manager.

Wilson has left Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp with a tough decision to make regarding his role at the club on the back of his impressive loan spell with Hull City.

Seven goals and four assists in 13 appearances saw the Welshman play an instrumental role in the Tigers avoiding a shock relegation and have subsequently paved the way for a prominent role in Liverpool’s pre-season.

His lasting impression in the Championship has inevitably attracted interest from elsewhere, with Gerrard keen to sign Wilson on loan, according to the Daily Record.

The opportunity to prove himself alongside Liverpool’s senior starts this summer is undoubtedly in the back of his mind on the back of his absence in last year’s pre-season tours due to injury.

An unrivalled consistency in the Reds’ U23s side over the past two campaigns equates to 22 goals and 10 assists in 30 Premier League 2 appearances. 10 of his goals notably arrived in just 12 outings prior to his temporary move to Hull in January.

Having firmly asserted himself as first-team material, Wilson faces a key period of decision-making in terms of the logical step in his development.

Given Klopp’s need for greater strength in depth, there is every chance he could look to keep the 21-year-old at his disposal.
