Loris Karius’s Kiev nightmare will be the last time he ever plays for Liverpool, reckons Danny Murphy.
Our former midfielder made the bold statement yesterday, two days after arguably the worst performance of any goalkeeper in a European Cup Final – ever.

Loris Karius makes heartbreaking statement after sleepless night
Karius made two of the most shocking blunders you’ll ever see, effectively gifting Real Madrid the win. First, he threw the ball straight at Karim Benzema’s outstretched foot to see us go 1-0 down, before parrying a straight shot into his own net off Gareth Bale to confirm the defeat.
“I actually feel sorry for him. I really do,” Murphy told Talksport.
“Nobody goes into a game wanting to make mistakes.
“Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll play in a Liverpool shirt again. It’s impossible for him.
“I think [with] the magnitude of the mistakes and the enormity of the game, the supporters will struggle with him being in goal for them.
“And the continual ribbing he will get week in, week out, wherever he goes – that’s going to be huge pressure for him.
“I just can’t see him playing again. That’s not being dramatic, that’s a reality of the situation.”
We don’t enjoy criticising Karius right now, as he must be going through a personal hell, but Murphy makes a point.
The German bottled it and he’s had enough chances between our sticks since joining in 2016.
Liverpool need to break the bank for a truly world-class stopper who will not let us down on the biggest stage.
Jan Oblak or Alisson would be fantastic additions, despite their monstrous likely expense.
