Jurgen Klopp admits Naby Keita is set to return to training following his injury blow in Friday’s 2-0 win over Wolves.
The Guinean endured a string of gruelling challenges before being forced off with rib and foot injuries after 58 minutes at Molineux.
His early exit from the game was the source of much frustration among Reds in light of his recent rise to form following his return from a hamstring problem.
Despite early concerns, Klopp is expecting the midfielder to be involved at Melwood ahead of his side’s Boxing Day meeting with Newcastle.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “Nothing new [on Keita] because it is pretty early, [but] nobody said to me so far he cannot train. I expect him back in training.”

Keita has seemingly just started to find his feet in Liverpool’s midfield, particularly flourishing in the wins over Bournemouth and Manchester United.
The former RB Leipzig man has previewed an injection of much-needed creativity in the middle of the park, striking up an impressive balance with fellow summer arrival Fabinho.
Liverpool are meanwhile also boosted by the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold following his ankle injury in the 1-0 Champions League victory over Napoli earlier in the month.
