A video which has been shared on Twitter appears to show members of the Manchester City squad singing their version of the Allez Allez Allez song, which includes several offensive lines about Liverpool.
The song makes reference to Mo Salah – a fellow professional – getting injured, and there is also a line about the Reds being ‘victims of it all’, which is something unfortunately often aimed at the club, and has clear links to the Hillsborough disaster.
There is also a line about being ‘battered in the streets’. Whether or not that line is a direct reference to Sean Cox, the Liverpool fan who was attacked by a Roma supporter outside Anfield in April 2018, and who was in a coma for a number of months, is unclear, but either way, it’s not a good look – and it’s completely fair to make the association.
