Scotland have given Steve Clarke, a former assistant manager at Liverpool, their full-time job.

And naturally, one of the first things Clarke did was call up international captain Andy Robertson, Liverpool’s phenomenal left-back.

“I spoke to Andy Robertson this morning just to touch base and if everybody is as enthusiastic and determined as Andy is then we will have a great chance [of qualifying for Euro 2020],” he told EuroSport.

Robertson is Scotland’s only world-class player and in truth, their only one of genuine European pedigree.

At 25-years-old, he’s quite young to be a skipper, but he’s proven while at Liverpool he’s the perfect choice – setting an example with his consistency, attitude, work-rate and exceptional end product.

Scotland are lucky to have a left-back who in our opinion is currently the best on the planet, but he doesn’t have much support around him.

Still, with the revamped Euros including 24 teams, Scotland have a very good chance to qualify – and we hope they do so Robbo can lead his country out in 2020.
