Spanish media claim Jurgen Klopp is ‘insistent’ on signing exciting Real Madrid forward

Liverpool are looking to recruit Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio if reports in his native Spain are to be believed.

The Majorcan-born wide-man is still only 23 despite seemingly having been around forever, and with Real Madrid’s spending spree, including splurging £100 million or so on 28-year-old Eden Hazard who only had a year remaining on his Chelsea contract, they need to balance the books.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Jurgen Klopp is very keen on the £80 million-rated Spanish international. The Spanish outlet claim he will “insist” on signing him this summer – which doesn’t sound very much like the German at all.

Asensio scored just once in 30 league games last season and his best ever tally is six, which came the season before. He is an exceptional dribbler and clearly has a lot more talent to unlock, which could increase that output, but spending a club-record fee on him would be a big risk.

With Real Madrid desperately needing to sell players, though, that price could be negotiated. As with any transfer links, if Klopp does want the player, he will probably get him. We just have to trust his judgement.
