Ojo was highly thought of at the Reds’ Academy, but struggled in France on loan at Reims last season. He is far from being able to break into the Reds’ first team.

Rangers need a replacement for another Reds loanee, Ryan Kent, who is expected to move away from Anfield on a permanent deal this summer. He did so well up in Scotland that Rangers can no longer afford the transfer fee of around £12 million that has been placed on him.
As a result, a move for Ojo makes perfect sense. If he can have a similar impact to Kent under the guidance of Gerrard, that will be a very successful loan spell.
Ojo’s no longer a rookie player, so the winger needs this move to pay off for him, either to earn a move there permanently or to generate interest from elsewhere.
