Liverpool vs Newcastle United: live streaming and preview
The 20-year-old has faced a mountain of criticism lately after knocking back an incredibly lucrative contract and being pictured smoking a shisha pipe. It appeared that the winger could do nothing right.
However, Sterling has gone some way to fix the damage his actions have caused with an incredible goal against Newcastle.
In the eighth minute, he received the ball on the wing following a wonderful cross-field pass from skipper Jordan Henderson. He then proceeded to move through the Magpies defence like they weren’t there, before curling a fantastic effort past a helpless Tim Krul and give us the perfect start in what – following Manchester City’s defeat yesterday – could be a massively important game for our season.
As always, Twitter has been quick to laud the goal and comment on the goalscorer:
Sterling’s goal was phenomenal
