I recently received an official email from the group authorised by the Premier League to distribute their football related content for violating their copyright. When it comes to streaming videos of games and goals and pictures I would understand and accept that they will be copyrighted. I was however shocked to find out that the Premier League fixtures are even copyrighted, yes if you mark all the Liverpool games on a calendar you are breaking this copyright. It seemed so ridiculous to me that I had to research it further, I have never heard of such insanity and thought I was being scammed by some Manure idiots.
They wanted around £500 per year for the license to post the Premier League fixtures in this blog. Woaaah! I could not afford such a fee so I had to remove them until I think of an alternative. In the meantime I will be compelled to put sponsorship adverts on and hope that I will be able to raise enough money as I will need this content and maybe other surprises that they might dish out in the future.
I personally think the Premier League SHOULD BE PAYING US for promoting their product not the other way around. What will this lead to I do not know, if this continues we might be even barred from mentioning Liverpool F.C. or names of players.

couldnt you get them from another source? i know there is plenty of other websites that plaster them all over or dont put anything mentioning any source on the post or could this be Mr Cohen being petty aand trying to get something on you :/
No matter how I word it or from where I get them they still objected.
Could you just use fake names/nicknames that are not copyrighted for the clubs on the fixtures? and call it the P-League or something like that?
Tried that and still they did not like it.
Agree..that’s rudiculous…every people has the right to get (read) generals and free-information.
Mm..so i got the fixture on my iCal…and it breaks the copyright? hah! i don’t care!
The positive is that the site is getting attention :-)
And people thought Setanta went in debt for being not so popular, nope, they just wrote about the PL a lot and needed to pay!
Absolute stupidity on the PL’s behalf, in the long term sense, I could not honestly see any lawsuit, think of the negative press for the PL?
“FA bully popular fan website because the FA have run out of idea’s to squeeze money out of things”
This is nothing new Antoine, the copyright law has been in place for a couple of years. Here’s a link to FREE THE FIXTURES http://www.freethefixtures.com/ which has not been successful as yet. By the way, if ever Y.N.W.A. becomes copyright it can be changed to Y.A.W.N.
