At the start of 2008 myself and some other LFC fans got together to compile a book of fan stories from trips home, away and abroad. All profits from this book went to the Ray of Hope Appeal, a charity set up to help Liverpool legend Ray Kennedy in his fight against Parkinsons’ Disease. Thanks to the help of everyone the charity raised over £50,000 for Ray, with our book contributing to that total. Now Ray is set financially and Ray of Hope have stopped asking for donations, for this reason we’re taking the book off the market.
We’d like to say a big thanks, first of all, to all those who contributed to the book. We were inundated with hundreds of amazing stories of great games from our past and unfortunately only a handful could go into the book. Still, we’d like to thank everyone who contributed a story, whether or not it was put into the book it was still great of you to spend your time trying to help out a hero like Ray Kennedy.
Secondly, we’d like to thank everyone who helped with the book at Lulu publishing. This was our first book and we went into it not knowing what to do and how to compile the book. So we’d like to thank those at Lulu who gave us step-by-step guidance all the way and gave us a platform to sell the book from. Without them it would be likely the book would have never got off the ground and we wouldn’t have raised the money we did. We’d like to thank Ken Anderson in particular, who gave us great advice despite his own health problems.
Finally we’d like to thank all of you who bought the book, your the reason this book has been successful and without you we wouldn’t have raised what we did for Ray. Whether you bought the limited edition hard back or the paper back you donated the money that has made Ray’s quality of life better and as the producers of the book that makes us extremely proud.
