Ok, here is one for all of you who want Rafa fired.
If Rafa is fired name one manager that can replace him.
Criteria:
1) Has won the Premier League in the last 10 years.
2) Is not expensive (no Mourinho) remember Hicks & Gillett are cheap.
If you can name anyone, please let me know.
I’m 100% behind Rafa so don’t think that I want this to happen. However, to answer your question I’d go for Hiddink…but then I’ve no idea what he would cost… I know that he hasn’t won the Premier League but has proven quality.
Good point, there clearly isn’t anyone, the only managers that have won the premier league within the last 10 years are Fergie *spits* Wenger *groans* Mourinho (wouldnt mind but the cost is a major issue) and did Avram Grant win it? and lets be honest we’ve got enough to worry about with the astetics of Dirk Kuyt we dont need the ugliest manager in all of world football.
There just isnt a better manager out there and more importantly there isnt a manager out there that would put up with the kind of treatment thrown onto them by the American owners. Lets face it Rafa has only put up with it because he loves the fans and the club, otherwise I strongly believe he would’ve left for Madrid in the summer and who could blaim him with the money, back in his native country and at a club he played for?
Rafa is the best man for the job, he still has the fans, the team and the coaches on his side. He embodies the spirit of Shankly and in my hearts of hearts I know that this slump hasn’t been his fault. We need to look as Carragher and Gerrard have both said, to the 11 men on that pitch every week.
Thankyou and goodnight haha
I’m sorry am I missing something? Rafa also hasn’t won no Premier League title and he’s been trying for about 5 year now.
Now I will always hold Rafa in high esteem and thank him for bringing home no. 5, but I really do believe he has took Liverpool as far as he can, and I think for himself and for Liverpool it is best that he leaves.
Your logic is crazy, how can anyone win something if they don’t get to have a go.
Bracey if my logic was crazy then why aren’t David Villa or David Silva playing for Liverpool?
If H&G do not spend money on players what makes you think they will spend money on a World Class Manager?
Your criteria 1 us unreslistic if not impossible. Hiddink is the man if Rafa goes at the end if the season ( which looks v likely). Our 2 greedy owners aren’t stupid, they know if they want to make money from us we have to be successful.
Marky, our owners are not stupid and they can make more money if we were a middle of the table team.
They will not have to spend any money on players and a good manager.
The windfall from the Champions league is not that great compared to the costs of salaries and new player signings.
IE it is cheaper to cut costs than try to make more money.
Anyone looking for Hiddink has to consider his price tag €3.5m until the end of this season and €6m per season thereafter! As Antoine says H&G are cheap. Remember every ime they are seen at Anfield the entire cost of the trip is expensed back to the club.
@Bracey and others are too quick to say Rafa has taken Liverpool as far as he can. He is having a bad season and after 5 good ones we can allow him this. A good finish to this season and he can start fresh for next season.
@bruce after rafa took the jox the clubs position in league table is going up n hiddink is costly…….so we need to stick with rafa
@bruce after rafa took the job the clubs position in league table is going up n hiddink is costly…….so we need to stick with rafa
@Antoine, Im not sure if thats right. The problem with finishing mid table year on year is that eventually there are empty seats, empty seats = no income from those seats, reduced sponsorship, reduced TV income, etc. Our v gready owners want to make a quick buck. Throw a stadium up and all of a sudden our value goes up but the current financial crisis in the Uk has meant no new stadium.
Is our wage budget that bad? we dont have a lot of squad depth certainly not when compared to chelsea, man u (scum) or man city, even spurs have moe depth in terms of attacking options.
I share your concerns about management but i dont see Rafa there next year, maybe its just hopeful thinking that we will have a big name manager but for now ill hold onto that.
Mark
Empty seats at Anfield?
LOL that will never happen, have you ever tried to get a ticket to a game?
Why does he have to have won the Prem in the last ten years?!
“Empty seats at Anfield?
LOL that will never happen, have you ever tried to get a ticket to a game?”
Tickets have been easier to get this season than since pre-2005. There were less than 30,000 there for Reading, under-capacity against Spurs and our average attendance is lower than it has been at any point under Benitez.
Head in the Sky.
The Reading attendance was low because it was a replay not a scheduled fixture.
@Antoine – Empty seats – you seriously believe that? When our last manager was on the way out you could quite easily get match tickets on the wed before a sat kick off, currently its not too hard to get tickets for non top 4 matches (I know ive just got 4 for the Bolton match). If we were finishing 8th in the league year after year; your living in fantasy land if you think there wouldnt be tickets avaiable on a sat. People are still die hard supporters but i dont go on a sat to get annoyed/depressed i get enough of that at work. Ill still bleed red till i die but if i keep getting in the state im in at the moment someone else can have my tickets.
Mark
ps i hope we stick 5 past Bolton, COME ON THE REDS.
Mark, if there are tickets available they are few, even against Spurs there were tickets available but you did not see all those empty seats.
Ok let us say that attendance drops, worse case scenario you are looking at 10%, that is still cheaper than hiring someone like Mourinho.
Antoine that logic is surely crazy.
You put the readers into a question that has no answer in order to admit to you and to the rafa supporters that rafa is the man.
You know very well that the only 3 managers answering the question are Mourinho,Ferguson and Wenger.
We re not gonna get Feguson and Wenger ofc , so u put another restrain to Jose Mourinho cause you know that he is the only one left.
The right questions Antoine is a manager that has Won a title in a big league with a team , and set aside the financial factors.
This only seems to me as like u are trying to divert the kick-or-stay Rafa question into Yanks please go.
Guus Hiddink would have won the league last year if he was on charge from the beggining of the league and u can see that from the last victories under him. You can also see that he deserved to go to the final with chelsea last year , and it was the fault of the refferees not to give 2 penalties.
So , here is the one.
Mourinho could come to if h&g give the money , but there are others too , like Martin ONeil(hes is the best option i believe),or Spaletti,or Redknapp.
Concerning Rafa , would he need 500.000.000 to be able to have a team that could win with a 3 or 4 margin victory Reading,Stoke,Sunderland,or the other teams?
If , with the money given to him all those years , he had a decent backup striker , a decent backup attacking , holding midfieldrs , and 2 decent wings( Dirk is not a wing , hes an inside forward , and riera is playing well occassionally, set Ryan aside , Rafa cant handle him (Wenger will make him the next Cristiano Ronaldo if he purchases him btw) ), and one decent right back replacement, we would have taken that matches and we would be in top 3 now , or 4 but 10 points ahead.
So,the conclusion is that H&G are NOT responsible for being knocked out of all the competitions and top four, RAFA IS, H&G is responsible for not being able to actually WIN the title , but u cant lose to every other team inside Anfield this year.
You just cant. If thats the Liverpool u want , I cant say anything more.
Antoine plz stop the blind faith.
The “Im still supporting u Rafa but however im running out of steam of yours 2 weeks ago was a good response , it was rafas fault and it is rafas fault that we are in a shitty position this year.
YNWA!
Progster:
If It is blind-faith you call it then I am VERY PROUD TO HAVE BLIND FAITH, it is a wonderful thing, you should try it.
O’Neill is a good manager, but has he won the EPL? Remember that at Liverpool he would get less of a budget than he has at Villa same applies to Renknapp.
As far as Guus and any of the other World Class managers are concerned will H&G bring in World Class manager? The Answer is NO NO NO NO NO
I agree with @Antoine. Rafa is the man for us. We have to remember he brought us the CL trophy in his 1st season here. Did the anti-Rafa happy when they saw we won the CL? Now, Rafa is still with Liverpool, and we are still the REDS, why can’t we just give our full support to Rafa? Rafa really needs the money to buy some stars. I am sure if Liverpool get the new RICH owner, it will be Rafa’s show time.He wanted to buy D.Silva but failed, he wanted to buy D.Villa but failed, he wanted to buy Barry but failed, why Rafa can’t get them? Because of the POOR YANKS!!!! So, Rafa is very unlucky because he has to work for the POOR YANKS. If he knows the fans don’t like him, his pressure will increase.C’mon, Rafa loves Liverpool, we love Liverpool, so we are same as Rafa!!! We have to support each other NOW!!!!! In Rafa I trust!!!
Hi Guys
I have a Corporate Hospitality company putting on Great Packages for LFC Fans were its from abroad or the UK and we have been very successful at this but i can asure you about there been tickets available at Anfield there is the biggest allocation i have noticed since houllier days were struggling to sell our Packages and there a bargain compared to other companies were struggling to sell out the biggest game of the season being Everton and its all down to the performance on the pitch and to the shambles of the yank owners but Im sure it will all turn round thank you for your time YNWA

@Antoine – Im not convinced about your financial predictions. Very few clubs turning decent profit. The last figures i remember reading were 07/08 ASton Villa – not exactly a small club were making a loss, Birmingham a v small profit. The money is in Europe and if we are 8th/9th we wont be in Europe.
Whatever we agree disagree the facts are the owners must go and thankfully the Royal bank of Scotland saw fit to refuse us a loan for the new stadium until its sorted. Lets leave our gripes about managers until the end of feb when we see what position we are in.
so u are admitting that its rafas fault for getting out of all competitions this year, losing to teams that have reserve players in them.
cause u dont need a high budget to win those teams, you are liverpool fc.
2)Blind faith was always wrond , is and will be always wrong faith. You just cant see certain things, like if any other manager in the world would have been come , we would get the ball down and play it,instead like a big legeng of LFC came out and spoke of , we are playing defensively , and with no plan and described the Reds’ style of play as ‘boring’ and ‘diabolical’.(u know who he is. Ian St John.
Well , Antoine , he knows better.
But w/e , that is the truth my friend.
With every other manager , we would play some serious football,i know several lfc fans that ofc they re supporting the team BEST THAN ANYONE but they re getting bored by the football we play, inside of them is Ian st John.
And 3) again I tell you antoine , hicks&gil could bring a wolds class manager if need be, that we need one ofc.
so,Oneil is the one,and u know that so far he hasnt got the chance to win the league.
YOU want him to win the league with Aston villa or Leeds?
Come on Antoine, maybe he wont have the budget of chelsea here , but he will have torres gerrard mascherano babel reina jonson agger and thats the difference with aston villa.
theyve got agbonlahor instead of torres , thats the reason why he could win the league with us.
the quality of the players and the quality of AVFC’s ones.
so please give him a chance,if he doesnt win it ,hell mount a serious challenge , and that Rafa cant do co-Redman.
YNWA
I love Liverpool too much NOT TO HAVE Blind Faith in our Manager and our Team.
i still have faith in Rafa and i want him to stay. although if he ever were to leave,Hiddink the man.
****I love Liverpool too much NOT TO HAVE Blind Faith in our Manager and our Team.****
thats a really poor come back/comment to make. The club is more important to me that the owners/managers. True red blooded players like Carragher and Gerrard are players i have blind faith in. I would step out in front of a bus to save either of them, but Rafa, yes he loves our club and yes he has been great but i dont share the same blind faith view, he will go someone else will come and you will say the same thing about him. This season is a mess.
Mark it is only one season out of 5.
I proudly support our Manager and Players through thick and thin until my dying breath.
Progster:
You can’t just say O’neil will do better because he has “torres gerrard mascherano babel reina jonson agger.” Four of those players have had major injury problems this season and one of those is probably on the way out this month, if not the summer.
We’re having a bad season. It happens. I don’t understand why so many people are calling for Rafa’s head. He’s done very well for us in the past. We’re having major injury problems. Let’s just get behind the team AND manager and finish this season strong. I smell a turnaround. YNWA
and if he transforms us into a new leeds united u will be supporting him till then.
poor comments antoine.
everyone s turning against rafa , and u see the reasons why.
some ppl of them love the club more than you.
so ur comment is a paradox.
ynwa.
Progster that is not true, stop reading the BS that comes out of London.
Most Liverpool supporter Support Rafa THAT IS A FACT.
and what about legends of liverpool that turn against him?
they do not love our team?
ian st john , aldo , and one or two other lfc legends?
Aldo was not true.
It was a lie created by the London-Based-News-Mafia.
Please stop reading or believing anything you see in any newspaper published in London.
JESUS CHRIST
Mourinho is a good manager with a big budget.
Wenger and Ferguson would never come to LFC.
Rafa has had one bad season out of five, and ppl are saying he’s taken the club as far as he can. Lets luck at different factors this season. Lack of penalties given, beach balls, red cards, injuries (before the team had gotten on a roll), lack of funds, lack of spirit and confidence in the last few months.
Yes, Rafa has made mistakes. His transfer dealings aren’t perfect, but they arent woeful or disastrous. Ppl are saying what a waste Degen was. He was a free agent. Lucas has been arguably one of our best performers this season, and he is a scapegoat for most of the bad performances. Insua’s the same, as well as Ngog. All young players. Ngog was labelled a waste. £1.5m for an eighteen year old back-up striker (who has a better strike rate this season than Judas)? I wouldn’t call that a waste.
If you compare the Pro-Rafa and the Anti-Rafa brigades, the Pro-Rafa side have more arguments for their side. We are a better club now than we were pre-2004. Yes, we are in fifth place and out of cups, but in general, we are the best club in Europe.
Ferguson took 6 YEARS to win his first league. Did ManUre get rid of him? No. I’m not sayin Rafa’s gonna be here for twenty years, but time is needed.
I’m sorry but a second-third-fourth or..fifth place isn’t accettable anymore. he had 5 years, nothing majorly (except for the champions league) has been achieved so far. they want to win the league, but it’s the same show every year. they aren’t going anywhere. now, I don’t think it’s the players’ quality… cos we have some very good players, it’s not even h&G’s fault. cos yes, they do need to provide good players, but buying TONS of good players don’t give you a garancy. look at real madrid and manchester city for example. they have rivers of money… still they aren’t going so far.
it’d be great to have villa in the team… but does rafa know how to use him? cos if he doesn’t.. then he’s worthless.
I think the team lacks of dynamics and creativy. rafa plays in a very predictable way. and I guess lots of teams know how to stop them now. they know how to stop torres and how to work against liverpool.
I’m not saying that rafa did bad.. but I think it’s time for him to go… some people are just too blind… and they would be strict and loyal so much that they can’t see… that what’s happening… is just pure bullshit! this year, the man that you guys adore, took you right to that door… ready to rip the team to shred. there’s no champions anymore, no fa, no carling… what’s next? a 5th place in the premier and no champions next year? do we really need all that to realize that maybe we need a change? that we need to breathe new air?
or do we have to keep blindly follow him, just because he’s the man… and remain faithful and loyal… to a dictator that can’t do anything? I’m not saying that he’s actually a dictator. but that’s the best example. if something isn’t right anymore.. then we just have to move on. like leaderships all over the world. do we have to keep them just because we HAVE to be loyal to our country? no, we just have to wake up and say no. say no to what we don’t like. before we all fall in a blackhole!
c’mon guys… stop it with the fanatism… if you really love the team, then you’ll realize and open up your eyes and SEE what’s really good for us!
If H&g fire RAFA ..only Klinsman is an option for them thats it..the rest are either dreamz or futile speculations..but rafa won’t be sacked ..he could go (though i don’t seriously think so) only if Juve offers are irrefutable..
And as per criticisms..i have only 2 against RAFA–
1) HE has too much faith in playing defensive players (both Lucas & masch on the pitch would never be in any top 4 club in England)+ He keeps playing Ngog when Pacheco is seemingly playing too good to go untried..(PACHECO for NGOG any day). He is too risk averse..
2) RAFA ,i am sorry has not a good eye in talent searching..which is tooo bad especially when you have little to spend like in the last summer..In comparison Wenger and fergie almost always have the correct buys..(now even O’NEill and Redknapp has a better eye it seems)…other than 3 players Torres, Alonso and Benny ..the Rest are ok..but could have been better..(Hope Johnson and Aqua-man proves me wrong..)
seriously guys, how can you judge a manager? Ferguson is one of the best managers all over the world because:
1) he’s good at what he does… in one word, the manager
2) last but not least… he HAS good ELEMENTS!
that’s what makes him the best!
in few words, Rafa is missing something. and surely not good elements!
now… coming to unknown managers… how can you judge them? obviously they will never be on top if they work for a team with NO ELEMENTS.
how can you expect to do the best concerts if your singers are all mediocre? it will never be good, even if the manager has good ideas and knows how to do his job.
anyways, let’s see what will happen… and let’s hope they won’t fail the last two things they have left… a 4th place in the premier league and the europa league. guys, don’t be afraid of the changes!
Wow someone praising Fergie, IT HAS TO BE A MANC.
you want me to say another name? because I can say carlo ancellotti is doing way good! and if he keeps this way, he’ll win the premier league…and who knows, maybe even the champions league?
It’s not about praising.do I like ferguson? HELL NO!
do I think he’s a good manager? yes
it’s about being honest and pointing out the truth. it doesn’t make me a manchester united fan. to be honest, I don’t like them. but at least I have the guts to say what’s true!
Mr. Antoine i think ron is being honest he has valid points..but i would like to say that even Manc’s and arsenal’s management should also take the praise for sticking with fergusson althrough..and allowing them enough MONEY for buying their first choices..besides as i said we needed to bring in upcoming talent and benitez should work hard on it to bring in promising youngsters AND PLAY THEM !!!..FABREGAS PLAYED FOR ARSENAL WHEN HE WAS 16!!and still an undisclosed packsge.. Ronaldo was a NO ONE before he came to MAN U..We only have ALONSO as some onelike that and may be REINA..(TORRES was not as great when he came in but he was a STAR all the same and he was a CHELSEA find as in WIKIPEDIA..whom we managed ..!!)..
BUT the truth also is that MOurinho would never have won without a windfall at chelsea..MANc was nothing if From the times of Cantona and before they kept spending (and are still spending 7m on a SMALLING with more than 900M in debt..AMAZING)..ANCELOTTI has a readymade team anyway and he is 6 months old so nothing much about him, But Arsenal have spent heavily on youngstars (and trusted them to play ..knowing well that PREMIER league is PHYSICAl..)..and the small heroics of MANcity are all down to TEVEZ ..who came after HUGE investors at City..EVEN tots and VILLA have spent on lucrative talents this year..THERE IS THE SOURCE OF OUR PROBLEM..
BECAUSE EVEN IF WE MANAGED TWO GOOD PLAYERS THEY HAVE SPENT MORE TIME INJURED..(and sometimes watching they should have been playing)..
RAFA is Just as GOOD AS ANY..
BUT H&G show him the MONEY!!!
