  1. I know Dalglish is going to be rusty, but if anyone is going to persuade Torres and Gerrard to stay, surely it would be him. He also knows the score inside Anfield with regards to the ownership issues and is unlikely to be taken by surprise at anything the owners may do. He would also allow for continuity at the club, with Sammy Lee presumably staying on as assistant manager.

Even if it was just for the short term, I think he’d be a better appointment than most candidates. I could care less whether he tarnishes his legacy or not.

  2. We don’t need Roy Hodgson at Anfield, he would probably bring Erik Nevland with him, and that would be ugly. The man could not even bring Viking in the Norwegian league any good, so what can he do to Liverpool…Nothing. The only guy From Fulham that we could use is Brede Hangeland. No King Kenny for the job!!!!

  3. Kenny hasn’t managed in a decade. Football has changed a lot in that time and I feel Dalglish may not be the best candidate. Kenny would still be involved with the club off the field, and along with Hodgson running the club on the field a very strong and stable partnership could be formed. Together these two could revive the spark of 08-09 and push forwards to our rightful place at the top of English football.

  4. RUSTY! He hasnt managed in 10 years!
He is the king but he has nothing to prove and everything to loose. It would be madness for kenny to take over.
having said that Im less than enthusiastic about Roy taking over.

  5. Based on the results, it seems that this poll merely shows that the majority of fans would prefer Kenny over Hodgson. While this does hold true, it’s unfair to not include the other main managerial candidates; whether it was confirmed that they were in the running or not, since this is a question of preference. As opposed to just two choices, with a “Don’t Know” option. So, Pellegrini, O’Neill, Erikson, Hitzfeld etc would also be valid choices.

Back to topic though, I think Kenny Dalglish would know what is required of him and would do his level best, if he were to be the next manager. It’s not completely a one-man show, after all.

  6. I reckon Kenny has too much to lose by taking the job – would the fans turn on him if he doesn’t bring back the glory – how long would we all wait and would emotion get in the way and allow poor management to stay in post for longer?

That said, Kenny does understands the job and I guess if I were Stevie or Nando I would be more inclined to listen to a Kop legend more so than any other manager. Roy is a solid choice and has worked wonders with Fulham – that cannot be forgotten. Either choice in my opinion would help steady the ship, but both to me would be short term appointments.

What is clear is that given the club’s finances the choices available to LFC (players and managers) have been greatly constrained, thanks largely to the Yanks and in particular Hicks.
