Until the end of the season.
Then John Henry should offer Kenny whatever contract he wants. Two years, five years, ten years – I’d make him manager for life if he wanted to be.
I just think to do it now might make the players relax. It might even put pressure back on everyone at the club, as the decision would be open to criticism the minute we lose a game. We don’t need that. But we do need Kenny to be in charge come the start of next season.
Not only has he improved results; he has also transformed the style of play. He has shown the courage and ability to change formations and the positions of players for each game, handled the sale of Fernando Torres perfectly, used Suarez sparingly in an effort to help him adapt to the league and generally unified the club.
For the first time in a couple of years, everyone seems to be on the same page. Kenny has brought ‘The Liverpool Way’ back. He’s got the backing of the owners, he’s got the respect of the players and he’s got the adulation of the fans. Once again there is the belief that no one is bigger than the club. The pass and move style has returned. And the board are going about their business quietly rather than having protracted discussions through the media.
This all proves that it wasn’t just a good decision to replace Hodgson with Kenny. It was the right one. The club was going nowhere and needed a calming influence. The ship had to be steadied before things could get better. Incidentally, I don’t hear many managers or journalists having a go at West Brom for sacking Di Matteo, or attacking Hodgson, the favourite to replace him. I wonder if this is because Di Matteo is foreign and Hodgson is a ‘good old boy’ or simply because West Brom aren’t Liverpool?
Back to our club, the reason I wouldn’t rush is simple. Why fix something that isn’t broken? The owners said they would review things at the end of the season and it’s working. You get the impression the players are doing their best in every game to help Kenny get the job permanently. Furthermore, they are playing with smiles on their faces, they are enjoying working with their new boss and they have a renewed confidence.
I think Kenny should get the job permanently, regardless of where we finish in the table, and I believe he will.
The King is well and truly back!
Nice. You had me scared for a second there ;)
All hail the King
I agree,Peter. Why spoil the magic?wait till the summer..
Let’s make it happen!! Everyone would agree that the King should be the manager permanently.
Kenny has done extremely well so far and the remarkable differences in the club as a whole since his return is for all to see. The players taking to the pitch under Kenny are far from the shakey & directionless group
Let’s just hope Carragher and Gerrard don’t lose faith with Kenny.
They’ve already used their player power & influence to get Rafa the sack…. how long before they tire of Dalglish and his work ethic and try to get someone in who will kowtow to their every demand.

With all that being said the owners must wait until the seasons end and consider all their options. The past 4 games have been pleasurabl
I totally agree, I also thought that the best time to appoint Kenny to be the manager is in summer start season, not now.
Couldn’t agree more!
My thinking exactly.
Right now the players are trying their best to get him the job and if they do it before the season ends they might slack off. He never sounds in any rush to have the contract under his nose anyway so everyone can wait.
Peter, I agree, I am sure he will be offered the job fulltime, in my opinion he should have got it when Rafa left but anyway, the Liverpool way, how refreshing to hear that and not hear our dirty laundry being hung out. Kenny has something very special when it comes to the beautiful game, he is the reason I started supporting Liverpool, and was heart broken when he left but I know why he did. He loves Liverpool and understands the fans hunger and passion for proper attacking football, as I teach my team, if the ball is in their goal it cant be in ours, can it??? so attack!!! The players are playing for the shirt now and if anyone else wants to leave then bye bye, but I dont think they will. I also feel like I can trust this John Henry guy, he is smart and a brilliant business mind and he looks like he is enjoying watching Liverpool play so welcome Mr Henry and welcome home King Kenny YNWA

With all that being said the owners must wait until the seasons end and consider all their options. The past 4 games have been super exciting for all reds fans but as much a relief too. There’s a long way to go before I start popping corks because we must maintain this work rate and attitude because the last thing we want is a poor showing in the Europa Cup followed by a poor final month. A strong finish to the season could become critical in retaining players like Reina & Johnson and its equally important to show future transfer targets we are capable of challenging the following year. Im very hopefully King Kenny can hold this group together and continue to push along. There’s huge defining games coming up against Utd, City, Arsenal & Spurs and I believe those games will answer a lot of questions.
Bloody Hell…your headline nearly had me thinking you were a dumbarse…
You are of course absolutely correct though…good article…
Not being funny here- but talk of LFC being back to “where they belong” is pretty premature. I am not a LFC fan- I like their history, I like the way they have done things in the past- but to now state that “King Kenny” is the best thing ever is a a bit sad. Give the man a chance- you are as bad the tabloids on England- one win and we are world beaters, best team ever, golden generation etc. A friendly draw or defeat and we are the worst team in the world- not even good enough to lace up Macedonia’s bootlaces etc.
Why dont you all wait until the end of the season (where I personally think you may be even closer to the top than some may think) and comment on KK then!
KD is a decent bloke who wants to get his club back to where it belongs- of that there is no doubt- but the expectations of some of your fans really is bad in terms of pressure it puts on him..
Well said, offer him a Life Term Contract “Long Live The King” in the summer !!!
He is God for us wouldn’t change for anybody else.
Don’t spoil the magic now. Make Kenny permanent at the end of the season
By beating Chelski at London and with Manure, City and Spurs to play at Anfield we might probably win all the remaining 12 matches and qualify for CL. All hail King Kenny.
team wil be in the top the moon with MR KUNNY always good morrning and good nite MR KUNNY u part in my heart welcome back
Bang on the money. Perhaps the owners should tell kenny that his got the job but keep it quiet so that the players keep fighting for kenny on the field.
and hodgson said he couldn’t win game because the players were not his choice…
king kenny doesn’t even need torres to win games…
What about Steve Clarke? He is on a short term contract, isn’t he? If so, he can be snapped up by anyone. He seems to have had a good effect on our defence, for sure, so shouldn’t we be offering him something before the season is up? Kenny is not going to leave to manage anyone else, but we should be trying to tie Clarke down asap, in my opinion.
Any one would be thinking you were looking for hits with a title like that on Newsnow. ;-)
Just goes to show that we as supporters sometimes know better than the pro’s about what is best for our club…..we were all screaming for kenny for a long time….I knew from the very beginning that hodgson couldn’t get the job done…where on th table would we be if kenny was given the job when he asked to be considered!! Just a thought.
i’ve always agreed with this idea, EOTK. Why make changes when things are going on so well? We don’t need to risk our rhythm. Let’s stick to the plan ( Kenny being caretaker coach till the end of the season) because it is working.
Yes…Kenny is critical in LFC revival…I have no doubt about that.
However, please do not take away the “contribution” from Steve Clark whom I believe is playing the major role at the back of the house. !
It’s going to be him. We have been searching for 20 yrs to find someone that can bring the glory day back but non has done it. Why waste the time to find someone who may end up with naught again. What is missing for the past 20yrs is the heart of Liverpool and that is our King. He is back. I will bet with my head on the chopping block he will bring the title back within 3 yrs
Digger is right. The Gerrard/Carragher axis shopuld never have so much power again. What worries me is the people who are now trashing Benitez will turn on Dalglish the moment they dont get their annual Euro bender
I feel this is a no brainer. There is a general uplifting feeling amongst anyone connected to Liverpool Football Club. Kenny is the game by game type of character which is a good thing. He also keeps a low profile and shys away from proclamations which is another good thing. I thing there will be changes this summer, but it won’t be on who will be managing the team, and results until the end of season will prove this.
Spot on !
I was one who wanted Rafa back but Kenny has transformed the whole unit of LFC,he has known all along that he had unfinished
business and whatever was going round in his head he has brought
`back` to all things red,Kenny must have wanted to kick Purslow`s arse when Hodgson come in but as we all knew he was out of his depth,as much as i respect the new owners they could`nt have known what Kenny had in mind and they must be gobsmacked too.Since before the last season of Rafa,i hav`nt felt so good about all things LFC,we are back,we are ready, and Manure better make the most of this season cos we are growing as a footballing force once again, CAN YOU FEEL IT?? i can YNWA
Understand the point your making BUT all that really matters is KENNY – dont forget that – he wont be too fussed either way and strange how everyone now hail the King but were missing a few weeks ago but there again KENNY was not fussed then either
All I know , Kenny Will stay.Because him just standing there with the players , the way he celebrates with the players and the staff , just makes you wonder … If i was there i would jump from my seat and celebrate with him , so Imagine how the players feel now.Im not saying Benitez was wrong or bad , but I havent seen him once celebrating with the players . Thats why we have Kenny , someone who is motivated and his home is Anfield , his brothers are the players … So that alone will win you games even if you just stand there and play your passes around , or even kick a ball once in a while.Kenny will stay and everyone there. All I know he wants to give us the CL place , and leave Torres and Chelsea play the Europa league , since thats what he wanted !!! And you will see.Thats his plan.Or else he would have just played his games and made sure not to lose much and get a mid-table season end and walk away . But No , he’s up to something and we will only see that by the end of the season.Long live The King and everyone at Liverpool club , from the owners down to every single person involved. PS: Torres might join Besiktas or Sparta Praga or even Al Ahli in the uAE in the coming 3 years.
i think to give mr,fix it-de-KING KENNY-the permanent role as a full time manager of the club will even spark up the players more and it will even made mr,KELLY and his assistant to even bring out the best of their knowledge and of the players, and it’ll allowed the managers to relax their minds and focus on the game and players they will bring into the club at the end of the season.MR,KENNY has made the difference looking at our games during the time of ROY and the few games that MR,KENNY-de-fix IT-has played you now see the difference that him and his assistants are.
FFS
I’m sick of everyone telling the new owners what to do. Kenny isn’t a miracle worker.
If they finally show in the summer that they have some money I’ll be happy. Bear in mind we’ve made serious profit by then.
The new stadium needs building yesterday.
If Kenny does the business come the summer then great.
