Asier Illarramendi transfer: Liverpool and Arsenal want loan deal…
Liverpool will go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Arsenal as they attempt to land a six-month loan deal for £25m rated Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
Reports in the Daily Express explain that the 24-year-old has struggled to win a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans since joining from Real Sociedad in 2013, and could be loaned out to get experience elsewhere.
The youngster has only started three games for Real this season and now looks likely to be available in January. He was most recently given a chance to stake his claim in the cup game against Cornella this week, but failed to impress.
Italian giants AC Milan had been tipped to make a major play for Illarramendi in the upcoming transfer window, but it now seems they could face competition from the Premier League.
The Express quote sources in Spain, which claim that both Arsenal and Liverpool would be interested in bringing the player in on a short-term deal.
For Arsenal, Illaramendi would represent an alternative to Sami Khedira, whose future at Real looks equally uncertain. But Liverpool are also interested in strengthening their midfield by adding the player to the growing Spanish contingent at Anfield.
