Xherdan Shaqiri transfer: Tottenham to battle Liverpool for highly rated winger…

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a January offer for Bayern Munich winger and long-time Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqirir, with the Reds now set to miss out on the Swiss star again.

Reports in Spain claim that Spurs have moved ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Shaqiri, despite the former Basel player being regularly linked with Liverpool during the summer window.

The north London side are on the lookout for new signings to strengthen their attack in the upcoming transfer window, with Shaqiri emerging as a realistic target for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have been below-par so far this season, and certainly look as though they could do with more from their forward players, with the likes of Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela not really contributing enough to the cause so far.

Shaqiri could make a smart signing for the club, with the skillful and creative wide-man struggling to break into the Bayern starting lineup on a regular basis due to the immense competition for places at the Allianz Arena.

The 23-year-old has previously been regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe, but has found himself up against some truly world class players in Pep Guardiola’s squad, leading to interest from the likes of Liverpool in the summer.

A move never materialised at that time, but Shaqiri is likely to be on several teams’ radars when the transfer window re-opens.
