Lille centre-back would relish Anfield transfer…

Talented central defender Simon Kjaer has revealed that he’d love a transfer to the red half of Merseyside, reports the Mirror.

The 25-year-old has claimed that he and his family are huge Liverpool fans, so naturally he’d one day like an Anfield transfer – although there is no confirmation that the Reds are actually interested in his services.

“It’s not a secret that my family are Liverpool fans, and a move to Liverpool would make my family happy. But they support me more than they support anything else, so they are happy where ever I go – as long as I am happy,” he said.

Kjaer currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 with Lille, and he’s enjoying an excellent season, having scored three goals and provided a consistently solid defensive presence for the French club.

He plays alongside Liverpool hero Daniel Agger for the Danish national team, and prides himself on excellent technique and composure on the ball.

Though talented, Kjaer arguably wouldn’t provide us with the no-nonsense physically imposing centre-back required.

Much like Dejan Lovren, he’s technically strong and composed on the ball – but doesn’t have exceptional natural defensive attributes.

He does however like to play on the right of central defence, meaning he could happily partner left-sided central defenders like Mamadou Sakho and Lovren.
