Does Simon Mignolet really need replacing right now…?

Liverpool are interested in signing Stoke’s keeper Asmir Begovic, the Mirror reports.

Current stopper Simon Mignolet has been heavily criticised for his form this season – but despite consecutive defeats to Real Madrid and Chelsea, the Belgian has actually played well in recent weeks.

Begovic though,  has not enjoyed the best season form-wise, and for probably the first time in his career; Stoke fans have actually turned on the 6 ft. 6″ stopper.

The Bosnian is aged 27, meaning he’s yet to reach his goalkeeping peak; but he has the temperament, the physical stature and the talent to eventually forge a reputations as one of the world’s best.

The report claims that Liverpool actually bid for Begovic in 2013, but were put off by a £15m asking price – opting for Mignolet at £9m instead.

Begovic now has only 20 months left on his contract, so his transfer fee would likely be much cheaper.
