Jackson Martinez transfer: Liverpool seek fresh striking talent…
FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez is apparently keen on moving to Liverpool, though any move to bring in the Primeira Liga star wouldn’t come to fruition until next summer.
According to the Daily Express, the 28-year-old Colombian has been linked with a £30m move to Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers frantically looking to strengthen his attack.
Liverpool elected to sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona and then drafted in Rickie Lambert, Divock Origi and Mario Balotelli to boost their attack, but their new look forward line has struggled so far this season.
Young Belgian Origi was immediately loaned back to Lille, whilst Lambert, Balotelli, and fellow striker Fabio Borini have not scored a single Premier League goal between them.
Meanwhile, the club’s struggles this season have been exacerbated by Daniel Sturridge’s lenghty injury absence, leaving Rodgers keen to acquire a fresh attacker in January.
Martinez has been a huge success since moving to Portugal, netting 72 goals in 106 appearances for FC Porto, but has recently re-ignited speculation over a likely exit by stating: “My agent is in charge of the negotiations. I prefer to stay out of it. At the end of this season I hope to get some interesting proposals.”
