Jackson Martinez will not be signing for Liverpool in January…

If Liverpool do enter the transfer market in January for a new striker, it looks unlikely that it’ll be for Colombian hitman Jackson Martinez.

According to the Daily Star, his agent Henrique Pompeu has told potential suitors that his client is happy and not looking to move away from FC Porto.

“He wants to be champion in Portugal and go far in the Champions League.” he said.

“There is plenty of talk, but he has an agreement with Porto and will respect it.

“He won’t leave in January.”

Liverpool, among with a host of clubs had been heavily linked to the Colombian 28-year-old, who’s made scoring goals look easy since arriving in Portugal in summer 2013.

Since then, he’s scored an astonishing 74 times in all competitions, which has naturally led to his stock rising dramatically.

With Daniel Sturridge having not played since August, and Mario Balotelli’s hamstring problems and potential ban for his social media misdemeanour – many fans have been crying out for a new forward.

It seems now though that if Martinez was a genuine target, we’ll have to turn our attentions elsewhere.
