Barcelona full-back is ‘100 per cent’ to move in January transfer window…
Long standing Liverpool transfer target – Barcelona full-back Martin Montoya – is ‘100 per cent’ to move in January, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
Montoya has found himself out of favour and unwanted at the Catalan club, and the player’s agent has insisted that they will be on the move this winter. The 23-year-old has been asked to stay, but wants first-team football.
Brendan Rodgers has been following the right-back for over a year, and could pounce as the Reds’ seek a long-term replacement for Glen Johnson, whose current contract expires at the end of the season.
Montoya’s agent, Juan de Dios Carrasco, has hinted that something may already be in the works, saying: “Montoya will 100 per cent leave Barcelona in the winter window.
“Right now we just want to find the best club for Martin, so he can continue his progression. Germany, Italy and England all have clubs that are already pulling strings to sign him.”
Johnson scored a crucial winning goal against Stoke City in last weekend’s 1-0 win, but his performances this season have generally received mixed reviews from Reds’ fans. Italian giants Roma are believed to be interested in his signature.
