A hat-trick from John Toshack and a fourth from Kevin Keegan secured Liverpool an outstanding result at Upton Park, bringing to end a run of four games without a win. The Reds would go onto win the first division title, a point ahead of Queens Park Rangers. West Ham finished in 18th place.
