Liverpool won the League Cup for the first time in a replay at Villa Park. Club legends Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen scored the goals in a 2-1 win. The Reds would also go on to win the European Cup under Bob Paisley, although a disappointing league campaign saw us finish fifth.
