Liverpool news and rumour round-up: Sunday’s biggest stories for the Reds…
Four Premier League clubs chasing Lambert
Crystal Palace, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers are all hoping to lure Rickie Lambert away from Liverpool on transfer deadline day, as they wait to see whether or not he is available.
Reports in the Daily Mirror claim that while Lambert has not specifically been made available by Brendan Rodgers, the Kop boss would consider allowing him to leave if the right offer came in.
The £4m summer signing from Southampton has struggled to hold down a regular first team place so far this season, while he’s also managed just three goals in all competitions – the last of which came against Aston Villa last month.

Shock deadline day bid for Winston Reid
Liverpool will offer West Ham United £6.5m for centre back Winston Reid, reports the Daily Mirror. That’s despite the player’s contract expiring in the summer, when he would be available for nothing.
Reid recently rejected a new four-year deal to extend his stay at Upton Park, but the Hammers have so far maintained that the New Zealand international would remain with them until at least the end of the season.
The Reds are willing to meet West Ham’s valuation of the 26-year-old in order to force through the move, and would rather sign him now than wait another six months.
Former target Yevhen Konoplyanka staying put
Yevhen Konoplyanka has told Premier League teams to forget about signing him before the end of the January transfer window, according to reports in the Sunday Express.
The Ukrainian has been linked with both Liverpool and Tottenham in the past while he’s also a rejected a move to Roma. The 25-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season, but says he wants to remain with Dnipro for now.
He said: “Last time with Liverpool was different. I wanted to go there but the clubs could not agree terms.”
Marco Reus wants Arsenal move, not Liverpool
We reported yesterday that Bayern Munich had pulled out of the race to sign Marco Reus, giving several Premier League teams fresh hope of signing the German international.
However, it appears as if we are set for fresh disappointment with the player seemingly suggesting that he’d favour a move to Arsenal over Liverpool.
Reports in the Daily Star explain that the player’s £20m release clause comes into effect at the end of the season, while Reus is desperate to work with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Liverpool turn down chance to sign Fabio Coentrao
The Daily Star is also claiming that both Arsenal and Liverpool have turned down the chance to sign Real Madrid’s out of favour full-back Fabio Coentrao.
The European champions value the Portuguese international at around £25m, but will have to significantly lower that valuation if they are to attract interest from either Premier League side.
The 26-year-old joined Madrid from Benfica in 2011, but has only managed 52 league appearances thus far, with just six of those coming in the current campaign.
