The Daily Mirror say the Bosnian is the man the club want to replace Steven Gerrard when he leaves in the summer.
However, to capture him we’d not only have to pay a staggering transfer fee but also a steep £160,000 per week in wages, making him the club’s top earner.
The Mirror also claim that Brendan Rodgers’ recent trip to Rome, where he was snapped with a fan, was for the purpose of holding talks with AS Roma director of football Walter Sabatini.
Rodgers is said to be quite smitten with Pjanic, seeing him as having the required experience at both club and international level to replace a player of Stevie-G’s stature.
However, to fulfill the manager’s dream the club would have to pay a quite astronomical amount and you’d expect it would have to be more than the reported £25m the Serie A side turned down from Paris Saint Germain.
The report says we value the Bosnian at £20m, do you think we should go higher? Is the £37m touted really the kind of number we should be spending to replace Gerrard?
