4) Maxi Pereira (Benfica)
Pereira was strongly linked with Liverpool prior to the January transfer window. Quite where those rumours came from we’re not sure, but nothing ever came of them. The 30-year-old has played over 200 times in the league for Benfica, and has an impressive 99 caps for his country Uruguay, but as with Adriano it’s hard to see why he’d be an improvement on what we already have.
